Lecoqsportif is back

With a heritage dating 125-years the French sportswear brand Lecoqsportif (sporting rooster) is back in SA – with a brand-new SA distributor Umnyama Nkukhu, backed by a brand new international owner, with Robert Louis Dreyfuss, formerly from adidas, as principal shareholder. “It is a big brand with a long heritage distributed by a small company that operates like a close family,” says international distributors sales executive Charles Hurtebize, who was in SA for the launch.

True to their motto “in the true spirit of sport” the brand will only be entering into sponsorship agreements with sport stars willing to devote time and effort to develop their chosen codes “in the spirit of sport”. In SA their sport focus will be on rugby, with Frédéric Michalak already actively coaching the Ses’khona development rugby team in KwaZulu Natal and newly signed Conrad Jantjes and Kabamba Floors committed to contributing to development.

The brand, described as fashionably elegant clothing with a strong sporting heritage, will be distributed by two former Edgars divisional sales managers, open water swimmer Duncan Kukard and cyclist Craig Smith.
