Champion enter SA

Champion, the iconic American sportswear brand that has become closely associated with university and basketball teams, is now available to SA retailers from Ukusa Brandhouse. Founded in 1919 in New York, Champion® was soon credited with several functional athletic apparel innovations like the hooded fleece sweatshirt, reversible t-shirts, cotton football practice jerseys, nylon mesh shorts and singlets and the inclusion of college graphics and logos onto t-shirts and other garments.

They were also among the first to create performance focused materials by using polyester in sporting apparel.

The Ukusa Brandhouse team has more than 50 years’ combined experience managing successful sports, apparel and FMCG brands. They include Ross Smith, former MD of NIKE SA, Sgwili Gumede, who has worked with some of world’s leading brands like Coca-Cola, Unilever and NIKE, Marianne Olwage-Smit, who worked as product and brand leader at both NIKE and Levi’s and Jenene Cronning, who spent 12 years at NIKE in retail development before joining Ukusa Brandhouse.
