PUMA supports Peace Day

Puma was proud to support the latest documentary by Jeremy Gilley, “The Day After Peace”, which screened at the Cannes Film festival. Gilley is a Peace One Day (POD) founder and he aims to create a world-wide day of peace on 21 September where the world recognizes the day as an official day to ceasefire and non-violence.

PUMA took the opportunity to present the new PUMA POD football collection for 2008/9 and the PUMA POD EDUN LIVE T-shirt. EDUN LIVE, a sister brand of the socially conscious EDUN clothing company, worked with PUMA to create the T-shirt. The company’s mission is to create beautiful clothing, while fostering sustainable employment in developing areas of the world, in particular Africa . Through the EDUN LIVE range of 100% African produced t-shirts; the company is able to drive further trade into Africa through high-volume sales direct to the wholesale market. A portion of proceeds of all sales of the PUMA POD Football, T-shirt and accessory products will go to the Peace One Day organization to help raise awareness of Peace Day.

PUMA-sponsored Bafana Bafana soccer star Bryce Moon is the latest to endorse Peace Day. In support, PUMA will host a number of soccer matches around the world on September 21 where they will feature their sponsored players.
