Oregon State claims part of adidas jury award

The State of Oregon is claiming 60% ($82-m) of the punitive damages recently awarded to adidas in its trademark infringement case against Payless ShoeSource and parent company, Collective Brands.

The merits of this landmark trademark infringement case is still hotly debated in the US.

Adidas was awarded $304-m in a trademark infringement suit on the 5th of May. The court found that Payless ShoeSource was selling shoes similar to adidas’ three-stripe logo and issued $137-m in punitive damages. Payless argued that their shoes had either two or four stripes.
