Team SA perform at ParalympicsWith the results of 2 more days of competition and a few more potential gold medals still outstanding, South Africa’s Paralympic team has already surpassed their gold medal performances of the previous three Games (see box below) – and is currently ranked #6 on the medal table. Rankings are allocated according to gold medals won, then silver and lastly bronze.
This is a remarkable performance by South Africa’s paralympic team in Beijing as China’s gold medal chase leaves fewer golds for the other countries to share. China already have 83 gold medals – twenty more than the total number of gold won by them in 2004 and Australia in 2000. Britain has retained their second position. Top 6 countries (number of gold medals won)
