New Challenges for McCain Adventure Addicts

The Bimbache Extrem Castilla y León limits entries to a maximum of 25 teams, which means only the best multi-sport athletes participate against each other over the 450km route. Disciplines include the usual mountain biking, trail running, trekking, canoeing, technical ropes and canyoneering, but this year participants might have to deal with additional disciplines, for example roller-blading, caving and a raft descent.

The race will unfold within the provinces of León and Palencia, starting at the tiny village of Vegacervera and finishing at Aguilar de Campo.

The team will be put together once fitness and performance on the local race circuit have been assessed. This will be done by means of events such as the Wartrail Tri in the Eastern Cape (21-23 March) and the Swazi Extreme in Swaziland (24-27 April, click here to read more about the Swazi Extreme). The team to participate in the Bimbache Extrem Castilla y León will be selected from Graham Bird, Andre Gie, Hanno Smit, Tatum Prins, Jeannette Walder, Garren Soutar, Ryan Hodierne and Cobus van Zyl.

The team have Capestorm, Giant Bicycles, Island Tribe sunscreen, Squirt bicycle lube and Black Diamond head torches as sponsors together with McCain.
